On March 29, 1942, HMS Trinidad, a British light cruiser, was heavily damaged during a battle with German destroyers while escorting convoy PQ 13 in the Arctic. During the engagement, one of her own torpedoes malfunctioned and struck the ship, causing significant damage and resulting in casualties.
