Inter-War C.B. Great War Royal Navy Officer's Miniature Group

Miniature group attributed to Engineer Rear-Admiral H.L. Parry Royal Navy who spent most of the Great War aboard H.M.S. Repulse Miniature group of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath Military Division (C.B.) O.B.E. Military Division WWI Trio Mounted as worn- unnamed as issued C.B. London Gazette 3rd June 1931 O.B.E London Gazette 11th August 1919 Herbert Lyell Parry was born in Rhyl, North Wales 14th September 1875. He joined the Royal Navy on 25th June 1896 spending most of his service prior to the First World War in home waters apart from a short spell in China. He took various engineering courses before joining H.M.S. Repulse on 8th August 1916. H.M.S Repulse participated in the Battle of Heligoland Bight and was awarded his O.B.E. for maintaining the engine room of 'Repulse' from that point till the end of the year. He left 'Repulse' on 17th December 1918 spending the remainder of his service at home and was awarded the C.B. in 1931 prior to being placed on the retired list 7th September 1931. He died at Weymouth on 12th February 1963. Condition as shown in photographs

Kings South Africa Medal Devonshire Regt. to a WWI Casualty

Kings South Africa Medal 1902 Clasps South Africa 1901-1902 4324 Pte. W. Perry Devon Regt. Perry was a veteran of India service who fought at Elandslaagte and Ladysmith only to be killed in action during the Somme Offensive William Perry was born at Caversham, Berkshire and enlisted with the Devonshire Regiment, serving with them in India and earning a Clasp for the North West Frontier 1897-98. Later joining the Anglo-Boer War in South Africa and seeing heavy fighting during the Battle of Elandslaagte and the Defence of Ladysmith in which the Devons won laurels for constantly being at the sharp end of the action. Returning to service for the Great War Perry entered the war in France on 10 October 1915. Serving with the 9th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment he was mortally wounded during the Somme Offensive, likely during the attack on High Wood on 20 July. He survived for several days but eventually died of wounds on 24 July 1916 and was buried at St Sever Cemetery. Condition as shown in photographs- suspension loose, contact wear, slight edge bruising, very fine
