Lewis R.N.R. -1939-45 Star (privately named J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) -Atlantic Star (privately named J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) -Burma Star (privately named J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) -War Medal (privately named J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) -Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal (privately named J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) -Royal Naval Reserve Decoration George VI with 2 additional Elizabeth II Long Service Clasps (officially dated 1945 and additionally named on rear top of medal J.D.E.Lewis R.N.R.) (these are mounted as worn) -Soviet 40th Anniversary 1945-1985 Medal (unnamed as issued) Accompanied by 3 volumes of extensive research, photographs and some original documentation. He was born in 1916 in West Sussex and started his Merchant Navy career with the Royal Mail Lines and applied to join the Royal Naval Reserve as a Sublieutenant taking up his R.N.R. appointment in 1939 just as war broke out. He served with the Navy until 1946 when he took up an appointment as a River Thames Pilot. He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 1948 and took part in the Great Coronation parade in 1953 thus earning his Coronation Medal. He continued to serve with the Royal Naval Reserve until 1956, promoted to Commander. This group has a really impressive archive or original and researched documentation including certificates, photos and documents. Viewing is highly recommended if in Torquay. Condition as shown in photographs

Dean RA -WWII Defence Medal -Civil Defence Long Service Medal- unnamed as issued, in original case -Selection of original badges for his ARP and Civil Defence Service -Original Certificate of Transfer to Reserve document, Certificate of Heavy Artillery Training, Protection Certificate and Certificate of Identity. -Original letter from the Commanding Officer confirming his mention in dispatches whilst serving with the Salonica Forces. -WWII Defence Medal Certificate -Certificate for Issue of the Civil Defence Long Service Medal -Original letter for the MID reads as follows 'In the field, the 17/2/1919 addressed to W.G Dean, 19 Mill Street, Plymouth- Dear Sir, I have much pleasure in informing you that your son, number 81775 L. Bdr. Dean W.G. has had the honour of being mentioned by General Milne, the GOC of the Salonica Forces in his dispatches for Conspicuous Bravery in the Field 14th/15th June 1918. On behalf of the Officers and men of this Battery, I offer you my heart-felt congratulations. W.S. Rought, Captain Commanding 196 Heavy Battery RGA.' Very unusual to have the original MID letter from his Commanding Officer together with a good selection of other documentation, portrait photos and badges. Egypt & Sudan 1882-89 Clasp Gemaizah 1888 undated reverse J. Bonell A.B H.M.S. Racer This was awarded to those at Suakin before the action at Gemaizah 20th December 1888 and who took part in this action. 91 medals were awarded to H.M.S. Racer. Condition as shown in photographs (very fine) James Bonell was born on 23rd March 1863 at Pedmore Worcester. He joined the Royal Navy as boy 2nd class on 2nd March 1879 and served aboard H.M.S. Racer from 1885-89 besides a short period on Phaeton. Made Ordinary Seaman 2nd April 1881, Able Seaman 1st February 1883 and Leading Seaman on 31st October 1890. He was discharged on 23rd March 1891.

Royal Marine Labour Corps WWI Pair DEAL. 11637/S Pte. James Schofield Royal Marine Labour Corps -WWI War Medal -WWI Victory Medal Named RM. James Schofield was born in Rochdale 25th March 1874 and enlisted in the Royal Marine Labour Corps 24th April 1917. Served Chatham, Calais, Dunkirk and Royal Marine Deal. Early in 1917 the Royal Marine Labour Corps was formed to assist in the loading and unloading of vessels at the ports of France and Belgium. Only men over 41 years old were allowed to enlist, and many were ex-marines of various ages between 50-60. The unit turned an excellent reputation particularly at Dunkirk and Calais which were frequently bombed. Accompanied by copy short-service papers confirming locations of service. With copy paperwork. Apprentice Samuel David Jenkins, Merchant Navy -1939-45 Star -Atlantic Star -Africa Star -Pacific Star -War Medal All unofficially named 21-12-40, 4-3-43 S.D. Jenkins S.S. Marietta E Mariette E was built for the Leath Hill Shipping Company of 7628 tonnes. On a voyage from New York and Durban to Alexandria was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine on 4th March 1943 soon after leaving Durban. 9 of her crew were lost including Jenkins. Samuel was born 24th March 1924 and lived at 112 Putney Road, Hanesworth, Birmingham. At 0:3:46 hrs on 4th March 1943, German U-Boat 160 fired 2 torpedoes at the convoy DN-21 North East of East London and hit 2 ships including the Marietta E. Commemorated on the Tower Hill memorial. With extensive copy research. Condition as shown in photographs

Died of wounds 31st May 1915 aged 28 serving with the 3rd Dragoon Guards (Prince of Wales own) son of William and Maryann Miles of Brant House, Borley, Ombersley, Droitwich, Worcestershire. Commemorated at the Hazebrouck Community Cemetery, France. Medal index card indicates he entered France for active service on 18th May 1915 and died of wounds on 31st May 1915. Condition as shown in photographs.
