-Original letter for the MID reads as follows ‘In the field, the 17/2/1919 addressed to W.G Dean, 19 Mill Street, Plymouth- Dear Sir, I have much pleasure in informing you that your son, number 81775 L. Bdr. Dean W.G. has had the honour of being mentioned by General Milne, the GOC of the Salonica Forces in his dispatches for Conspicuous Bravery in the Field 14th/15th June 1918. On behalf of the Officers and men of this Battery, I offer you my heart-felt congratulations. W.S. Rought, Captain Commanding 196 Heavy Battery RGA.’
Very unusual to have the original MID letter from his Commanding Officer together with a good selection of other documentation, portrait photos and badges.
He saw service in the First World War, Second World War and the Cold War.
