Long service Medal named div-off Sidney J.J. Beasley Warwick 1948.
Mr Beasley joined the Foleshill and Longford St Johns Ambulance Division in 1935. He held many posts including Assistant County Secretary for Warwickshire and Secretary of the Coventry Centre in 1969. He served with the Royal Navy during WWII as a sick-berth attendant on H.M.S. Formidable as a leading LSBA.
With 2 folders of original photographs and certificates making it an excellent addition to any collection.

Scots Guards WWI Loos Casualty Trio

Copy documentation, Commonwealth War graves, medal index card, regimental history and from the local newspaper, 2 modern photographs of Dunfermline War memorial.
Killed in action 27th September 1915 aged 30. Son of Elizabeth Arnott 101 Nethertown, Dunfermline. Commemorated at Philosphe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe. 1 of 106 Scots Guardsmen killed in action that day during the Battle of Loos. Newspaper cutting states that he was serving in the 2nd battalion. Before the war, he was serving an apprenticeship with Messrs Henry Reid & Son and was a member of the Young Scots Society. In letter from a fellow guardsman, it states 'I am very sorry to state that our Corporal (Mitchell) was killed on the first morning of the engagement when we were laying back in the reserve trenches. A stray shell came over our way and a splinter struck poor Mitchell.' He enlisted in November 1914 and had been in France since 22nd May 1915.

£195.002041 Bugler Kuresh 40th Pathans
2041 Bugler Major Kuresh 40th Pathans. Kuresh was born in Sokhokot in the North West Frontier Province the son of Sikander. He enlisted in the 40th Pathans (regimental nickname 'The 40 Thieves') and enlisted at some point before 1903 serving on the North West Frontier 1908 and earning this India General Service Medal.
It is highly probable that he served in the Tibet Expedition and he probably earnt the Tibet Medal with Clasps Gyantse. He was promoted bugle Major of the regiment and sailed for France on the outbreak of war. The first major engagement which the 40th Pathans took part was at the Battle of St. Julien, part of the 2nd Battle of Ypres on the 26th April 1915. And of a strength of 650 of all ranks, the battalion suffered 320 casualties. He was killed in action in this engagement and would have been entitled to a 1914-15 Star Trio. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
Whilst his other medals have sadly become split from his IGS, this is a good opportunity to add a Bugle Major WWI Casualty to your collection and maybe start searching for his other medals.

About 3000 clasps were awarded for the Manipur Expedition. The small state of Manipur adjoining Assam & Burma possessed a small army but relied on the British for protection against attacks from the Burmese. The 4th Bn. The King's Royal Rifle Corps served with the Tamu Column and 433 medals with this clasp were awarded to the regiment.
