Born 26th April 1879, Camberwell, London. Enlisted 1st October 1897 and reengaged 5th September 1909. Married Ann Marie Russel 6th January 1917. Served RMA depot 1897-98, Royal Marine Artillery 1898-99, H.M.S Royal Oak, Mediterranean fleet 1899-1902, H.M.S Illustrious 1903-1905, H.M.S Hindustan 1906-1909, Royal Marine Artillery Ostend and Dunkirk 1909-1915, RMA Howitzer Brigade 1915-1919. Discharged 30th May 1919 after 21 years service. filly swerved at Ostend between 27th-31st August 1914 and then Dunkirk 7th-18th October 1914. Transferring to Howitzers and served in the Dardanelles with No.3 Howitzer Brigade. Long Service and Good Conduct Medal awarded November 1912.
