Queen's South Africa Relief of Ladysmith RFA

Clasp Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal 17264 Gnr. G. Mason 19th Bty RFA. George was born between January and March 1875 in Brighton and he started work aged 17 at the Marine Parade Hotel, Brighton working as an 'under porter'. 5 years on, George had had enough of the hotel business and on the 24th November 1896 he enlisted at Woolwich into the Royal Artillery for short service aged 21 years and 9 months. He was 5ft. 7" with hazel eyes and light brown hair and a member of the Church of England. He was posted to the 19th Battery. On 5th December 1899 he arrived in South Africa with his Battalion of the Royal Artillery. Serving until 21st April 1901. On 5th December 1902 he was posted to the 22nd Battalion. Sadly, 16 days later, on 21st December he died in Woolwich of pneumonia. Accompanied by a file of service and family research. Condition as shown in photographs

Queen's Sudan Medal 1896-98 4226 Pte. J. Covell 1st Northumberland Fusiliers Court style mounted for display. Several small edge knocks, otherwise very fine. With copy service documents. James Covell of Newcastle on Tyne joined the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1894 having seen previous service in the 3rd militia Bn. of the same Regt. He was with the Fusiliers in the Sudan Expedition and the Occupation of Crete 1898 as well as in South Africa from 1899-1902. Additionally entitled to a Khedive Sudan Medal with Clasp for Khartoum and a Queen's South Africa 4 Clasp Medal along with a 2 Clasp King's South Africa. He was discharged at his own request in 1906.

John Neil Private 46th Regiment. 6.30pm on 21st May 1868 at Pembroke Dock, William John Forsyth fell into the water, John Neil jumped into the sea fully clothed and rescued the child. Condition as shown in photographs Charles was born 14th April 1865 at St Johns Wood, London and enlisted on 14th July 1879 into the Portsmouth Division Royal Marines. His Egypt Medal is confirmed on his service papers (see attached).
