Small letter reverse 1874-1901 version 8623 Corp. J.F. Leslie John Foster Leslie was born in October/December quarter of 1851 in Newton Abbott near Torquay, Devon. He appears to have enlisted into the Royal Engineers 16th December 1865 in Westminster, London which would make him only 14 years and 4 months old! He is listed as 4ft. 8" tall. He was ranked as Bugler 1st September 1866 and served in various home establishments and in Gibraltar and Hong Kong. With a folder of copied research. Condition as shown in photographs

Awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal 10th March 1897. Served with the Chatham division Royal Marine Light Infantry. Condition as shown in photographs

Excellent on which he served from 3rd August 1898- 4th May 1899.
