Samuel Telford was born on 28th January 1874 at Gateshead on Tyne, Durham. He served on H.M.S Barfleur during the naval operations China 1900 Boxer Rebellion. 398 no clasp medals were awarded to the ship. He is shown as being issued a silver War Discharge badge in 1917.
